ANN ARBOR, MI. - Maryland fell to No. 22 Michigan 4-2 on Friday, but put up a competitive battle against the Wolverines.
After the first two Terps went down in the lineup, Regan Kerr stepped up to the plate. Michigan's pitcher Meghan Beaubien threw a ball, and on the next pitch Kerr lined it up to send it over the fence and recorded her second homer of the season to bring Maryland up 1-0 in the top of the first. Michigan then went down in order to send the Terps into the second frame with a one-run advantage.
After a quiet top of the second for Maryland, Michigan answered back to the Terps' run notching three runs on four hits to give them a two run lead over Maryland. The third frame was uneventful for both sides, until Michigan added another run to the board in the bottom of the fourth with a homer from Lauren Esman.
The Terps refused to go down silently, with a wild throw by Michigan's catcher sending Merrisa Borkowski to third. A proceeding single from Megan Mikami sent Borkowski home, allowing Maryland to come within two of Michigan, but the Wolverines took the game after a third and final out from the Terps followed.
