
Maryland to Face No. 22 Michigan for Weekend Series

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland Softball will be heading to Ann Arbor, Michigan to face the No. 22 Wolverines in a four game series. Friday's game, as well as game two of the double header on Saturday will be broadcasted on the Big Ten Network. Saturday's doubleheader has been pushed forward one hour from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. (ET). The Wolverines lead 23-3 all time in series history, with the last Terrapin win coming in 2017 (2-1, 04/15/17).
The Terps will head into the weekend most recently coming out of a 3-1 series win over Michigan State. Maryland saw incredible offense from its Terps, with Taylor Okada recording a team high seven hits, in addition to tying a season high three RBIs. Freshman Michaela Jones notched her second homer of the season, and fellow first-year Jaeda McFarland put on a show; recording five hits and five runs against the Spartans, with three runs coming in one game (04/09/21), creating a new season high. McFarland was also named the Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week (04/13/21) and the Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week (04/12/21).
As a team, Maryland ranks fifth in the conference overall in batting (.260), with McFarland ranking first overall in triples (4, 14th in the nation), sixth in fielding, and 13th in batting. Michigan currently ranks first in the Big Ten, as well as No. 22 in the nation, with junior pitcher Alex Storako ranking No. 5 in the country (0.49 ERA).
