Maryland Athletics To Return To Full Capacity For Sporting Events For 2021-22 Season

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- With Prince George's County lifting all capacity and distancing restrictions for indoor and outdoor sporting venues, Maryland Athletics is pleased to welcome fans, at full capacity, back to its sporting events for all 2021-22 athletic seasons, including football and basketball next school year.

In accordance with national, state and local COVID-19 protocols, Maryland Athletics has adopted the following requirements for all of our athletic venues for the fall sports season. We will continue to monitor conditions closely and adjust our COVID-19 protocols as needed to maintain the health and safety of our community.

"We are very grateful to the officials in the state of Maryland, Prince George's County and the University of Maryland who continued to safely navigate us through these difficult and unprecedented times," said Maryland Athletic Director Damon Evans. "We knew the day would come when we could welcome our loyal Terp fans back to our venues at full capacity in a safe manner. This is wonderful news for our community and the entire state of Maryland. We are excited to have every seat available for our Terp Family to come out and cheer on our Terrapins."

This fall, the Maryland football team will play seven of its 12 games in College Park, marking the first time since 2011 that Maryland will play seven games on campus. Also for the first time since 2001, the Terps will play all of their non-conference games inside their home stadium.

Maryland, which will play four of its first five games at home, opens its 2021 slate against non-conference rival West Virginia on Sept. 4 before welcoming local foe Howard on Sept. 11. Maryland will host Kent State for its final non-conference game on Sept. 25 before returning to league play on Oct. 2 at home against Iowa.

The Terps will host Indiana on Oct. 30 and then welcome Penn State the following Saturday, Nov. 6, before taking on Michigan in its home finale on Nov. 20.

We are excited to announce that along with seating returning to 100%, the full tailgating experience returns! Tailgating has been part of the tradition of Maryland football for decades and it is built into the overall fabric of the gameday experience.

We look forward to welcoming back Maryland fans as they gather to consume food and beverages and enjoy the company of friends and family before and after football games this fall!  For more information, please see our Tailgating Guide.

New this year, fans may secure their season tickets by only initially placing 1% down. To explore ticket options, click here.
