State College, Pa. – The Maryland Outdoor track and field team joined the Penn State Nittany Lions for an eventful Jim Thorpe Invitational on Friday.

Women's Notes

Angel Nkwonta placed first in the Hammer Throw competition finishing with a new PR of 61.50. This moves Nkwonta up to No. 3 overall in the Maryland history books.
In the women's triple jump, senior Leah Blackall finished first with a final mark of 12.45m.
Nadia Hackett took first place in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.10s.
Alice Barnsdale took a third place finish in the hammer throw posting a mark of 56.35m followed by Kamryn Henderson's 51.26m.
Lillian Hill placed second in the Javelin throw posting a mark of 42.11m.
Freshman Seun Sule finished third in the long jump with a final mark of 5.03m.
Freshman Marisa DiGia competed in the pole vault launching herself to a final mark of 3.43m.
In the shot put, Angel Nkwonta led the Terrapins with a mark of 14.29m followed by Kamryn Henderson's 13.36m.
Madison Depry finished the high jump clearing a height of 1.65m.
Kami Joi Hickson finished first in the 400m with a time of 59.16s followed by Mackenzie Morgan's 1:00.80 and Nyela Williams' 1:01.59.
Kirstin Walz ran solo in the women's 800m and ended with a time of 2:22.37.
In the 1500m, Christine Laurie finished first with a time of 4:38.66, followed by Anna Coffin's third place finish of 4:43.22. Fellow Terps Sarah Daniels, Amanda Eliker, Courtney Mann, Sarah Daniels and Julia Reicin also competed.

Men's Notes

Hayden Tobias finished third on podium finishing in the shot put with a mark of 17.37m.
Kaithon McDonald set a new PR in the high jump clearing a mark of 2.08m.
Gerald Norgbe placed first in the triple jump, finishing with a mark of 14.38m.
Hayden Tobias placed third in the discus throw with a mark of 47.20m followed by fellow freshman Jeff Kline's mark of 43.25m.
Brandon Turpin placed second in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.89s followed by Drake Murphy's time of 14.90s.
Brian Evans and Brady Snelson finished back-to-back in the men's 400m.
In the men's 800m Maxwell Myers finished in first with a time of 1:57.25 followed by Justin DePinto's 1:58.41 and Peter Capozzoli.
Senior, Chris Spiess placed 2nd in the pole vault with a clearance of 15'0 ¼".

Coach's Comments
"This was our last Tune up heading into the Big Ten Championships. There are a lot of positives to take away from today and carry forward into the upcoming week."
