Big Ten Releases Fall 2021 Volleyball Schedule

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The University of Maryland and the Big Ten Conference released its 2021 fall schedule on Friday morning.

Led by Head Coach Adam Hughes in his fourth season at the helm of the program, Maryland will play a 20-match conference schedule in the fall. Non-conference matches and invitationals will be announced at a later date.

Maryland will face each Big Ten team at least once, and will play Minnesota, Penn State, Ohio State, Northwestern, Michigan, Michigan State, and Rutgers twice. The Terps will play nine matches against 2020-21 NCAA Tournament Teams, as six teams from the conference advanced in last spring's tournament.

The Terps open the season with a home match against the 2020-21 Big Ten Champions, Wisconsin, on Friday, Sept. 24. Maryland then jets to Minnesota for its first meeting with the Gophers of the season that Sunday (Sept. 26).

Maryland hosts Penn State for its first weekday affair on Wednesday, Sept. 29, before heading to Columbus to face Ohio State that Saturday (Oct. 2).

Northwestern and Indiana travel to College Park to face the Terps on Friday, Oct. 8 and Saturday, Oct. 9, respectively. Maryland then hits the road for a three-match swing at Michigan (Oct. 15), Michigan State (Oct. 16), and Rutgers (Oct. 20).

The Spartans face Maryland for the second time in three matches as Michigan State will visit the XFINITY Center Pavilion on Saturday, Oct. 23, before Maryland heads north for a road trip to Penn State (Oct. 29).

Maryland's longest home stand of the season takes place from Oct. 31 to Nov. 6, as Rutgers (Oct. 31), Purdue (Nov. 5), and Michigan (Nov. 7) come to town to take on the Terps. Hughes' squad will then face four consecutive opponents on the road in Nebraska (Nov. 12), Iowa (Nov. 13), Northwestern (Nov. 19), and Illinois (Nov. 21).

To close out the regular season, Maryland welcomes Ohio State (Nov. 26) and Minnesota (Nov. 27) to the XFINITY Center Pavlilion.
