Bednar Signs With Seattle Mariners

COLLEGE PARK, MD. - Maryland outfield Randy Bednar signed with the Seattle Mariners as an undrafted free agent after the 2021 MLB Draft.

The Bethesda, Maryland native was a staple in the Terrapin lineup having started all four years in his career in both the outfield and as a designated hitter. Bednar enjoyed a breakout season his sophomore year by batting .288 with a career high in home runs (12), RBI's (55) and stolen bases (12). He was named 2nd-team All-Big Ten for his efforts.

After a COVID shortened junior year, Bednar was named team captain in his final season in College Park where he continued his offensive success. He batted a career high .317 and despite missing time due to injury he still racked up 7 home runs, 23 RBI's and 10 stolen bases.

Bednar ended his career as a Terp with some of his best outings as he slugged two home runs and drove in 3 runs in the NCAA tournament on the way to being named to the Greenville Regional All-Tournament Team.
