COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland Tennis has added new assistant coach Ruth Seaborne, as announced on Monday.
Seaborne comes to the Terrapins after serving as interim head coach in her second season at Arkansas. After joining the program in July 2019, Seaborne helped develop a doubles duo to reach an ITA ranking of No. 8 in the country, where they reached the Elite 8 in the 2019 National Fall Championships. During her time with the Razorbacks multiple singles players made appearances in the top 125 ITA singles rankings, as well as a top 50 team appearance during spring of 2020 before the season was cut short.
A Big Ten alumna, Seaborne was the Volunteer Assistant at Iowa, where she played the second half of her collegiate career. While there, the London native helped guide the Hawkeyes to a 16-9 record, including Big 10 victories over Indiana, Minnesota, Nebraska, Penn State and Wisconsin. During her playing days as a Hawkeye, Seaborne racked up the individual honors, including two First-Team All-Big 10 selections. She was named the team's MVP in both of those seasons as well, posting a 45-24 cumulative record.
Seaborne graduated from the University of Iowa with a bachelor's degree in psychology in May 2015. She also earned a minor in sports studies.
