Hope Rose helped the U.S. Under-22 squad took bronze in the Junior Pan American Cup Saturday in Santiago, Chile. Donnelly scored the game-winning goal in a shootout victory over the host nation.
With the win, Team USA earned a bid to the 2021 FIH Junior Hockey World Cup in South Africa in December.
Tied 1-1 at the end of regulation, the game moved to a shootout. During the shootout, Rose converted a penalty stroke awarded due to a Chilean foul. Donnelly stepped up and scored the winning penalty shot to seal the victory.
Rose was named Most Valuable Player of the Junior Pan American Cup.
USA has won JPAC bronze twice before, 1998 and 2012, since the tournament's inception in 1988. This is the second time in a row that USA has qualified for the women's JWC. The 2021 women's JWC is set to take place December 5 to 16 in Potchefstroom, South Africa.
