No. 13 Maryland Field Hockey Improves To 2-0 With 3-1 Win Over Temple

The Terps out-shot the Owls 18-6 as they rounded out the Conference Cup.
COLLEGE PARK, MD — The No. 13 Terps dominated Temple from whistle to whistle and came away with a 3-1 win on Sunday afternoon to round out the Conference Cup. Francisca Eschoyez scored her first two goals as a Terp as Maryland claimed its fifth straight 2-0 start.
The first half featured a Maryland barrage on the Temple (1-1) cage. The Terps took six corners and logged 12 shots in the opening frame, but the Owls' defense held solid until Eschoyez opened the scoring early in the second quarter with her first goal as a Terp.

Temple's only true scoring chance came on a penalty shot late in the third quarter, which the Owls scored to get on the board. How it Happened:
1st Quarter:
- Ella Beach recorded both of the afternoon's first three shots, putting one on goal and forcing a Temple save.
- Maryland held the Owls shotless and took three corners in a scoreless first frame.
- Eschoyez scored (1) on Maryland's 10th shot of the game in the 19th minute. Bradford (2) and Beach (1) both assisted on the goal.
- Temple took its first shot in the 21st minute of action.
- Ierubino doubled the lead with a goal (2) in the 28th minute. Van Hest (1) assisted on the goal
- Maryland opened the half with an early penalty corner opportunity.
- Temple scored on a penalty shot in the 44th minute to get on the board.
