Maryland Falls To Wake Forest, 2-0

Box Score WINSTON SALEM, NC – Maryland (4-2-2) hung tough but couldn't muster enough offense and ultimately fell to undefeated Wake Forest (8-0), 2-0 on Sunday afternoon.

The opening twenty minutes were even as both teams jockeyed for position and opportunities but it was the Demon Deacons that broke through first. Wake Forest continued to pressure the Maryland defense but the Terps held strong and went into halftime down just 1-0. The second half saw both teams continuing to fight for chances with neither defense giving an inch of space. The Maryland offense kept pushing but couldn't crack the Wake Forest defense and goalie that has still yet to concede a goal on the season.

Send It In
  • The vaunted Demon Deacons was tested by the outside speed of attackers like Toni Domingos and Kori Locksley
  • Maryland's long send-in passes were just mere feet away from providing a scoring opportunity.

Goalie Timeshare
  • Goalie's Liz Brucia and Madeline Smith once again swapped time in net for the Terps.
  • The pair combined for three saves on 15 shots with two goals allowed.
Up Next
  • The Terps will return home and start their conference season as they'll welcome the Ohio State Buckeyes to College Park.
  • Their last matchup at Ludwig Field was a 3-1 loss for Maryland during the shortened spring season.
