Four Terps Named Preseason All-Americans

COLLEGE PARK, MD – Four Terps, Abby Bosco, Aurora Cordingley, Grace Griffin and Hannah Leubecker, have been named Preseason All-Americans by Inside Lacrosse, it was announced Tuesday.
Bosco, Cordingley and Leubecker were all selected to the third team, while Griffin was awarded an honorable mention selection. The trio of Cordingley, Bosco and Leubecker were also selected as Preseason Third Team All-Americans by the other major lacrosse media outlet, USA Lacrosse Magazine.
A fifth-year defender, Bosco comes to Maryland from the University of Pennsylvania where she played three seasons with the Quakers, totaling 90 groundballs, 81 draw controls and 42 caused turnovers to go with 18 goals and two assists. Bosco was a 2019 Second Team All-Ivy selection and was named a Third Team Inside Lacrosse All-American after the COVID-19 shortened 2020 season where she started in all five games and finished the season with 13 ground balls, 12 caused turnovers and 12 draw controls.
A fifth-year attacker, Cordingley comes to Maryland from Johns Hopkins where she played four seasons for the Blue Jays in the Big Ten, standing top-10 in Hopkins program Division 1 history in points (182), goals (116) and assists (66). Last year, Cordingley was named an IWLCA Third Team All-American and First Team All-Big Ten selection after leading the Blue Jays in goals (39) and points (57) for the second straight year and standing third in assists (18). Cordingley ranked fifth in the Big Ten in points (3.80), eighth in goals (2.60) and ninth in assists (1.20).
Heading into her junior season, Leubecker had a historic 2021 campaign, earning Third Team All-America plaudits. Leubecker led Maryland's offense last season, scoring 58 goals, 23 more than anyone else on the team. Also a First Team All-Big Ten selection, Leubecker's 58 goals were the third-most in the Big Ten and the 16th most in the country as she shot .500 on the season, the fourth-best mark in the Big Ten.
A fifth-year midfielder, Griffin was also a Third Team All-American in 2021. On offense, Griffin was second on the team with 48 points, scoring 29 goals and recording 19 assists. The senior also made an immense impact on the defensive end, standing second on the team with 19 caused turnovers and third on the team with 30 groundballs. The 2018 Big Ten Freshman of the Year and 2019 National Champion has accumulated 106 goals, 41 assists, 147 points, 103 groundballs, 54 caused turnovers and 18 draw controls over five years as a Terp.
Maryland, who is ranked No. 6 in USA Lacrosse Magazine's preseason poll, will open up the 2022 season at Saint Joseph's on February 12.
