Gianna Monaco, Kira Balis and Ella Romeo Ranked Among Top 25 Women’s Lacrosse Transfers

Monaco was named a 2026 USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason First Team All-American before stepping away from the team for personal reasons. During the 2025 season at Florida, she appeared in all 23 games with 21 starts, totaling 73 goals and 22 assists. She also led the Gators with 14 hat tricks during her junior campaign while earning 2025 IWLCA Third Team All-American honors and a spot on the 2025 NCAA All-Tournament Team. Monaco joins the Terps with one year of eligibility remaining.
Balis arrives in College Park after spending the past two seasons at Clemson, where she started every game. Entering her sophomore season, she was ranked No. 39 on Inside Lacrosse's list of the top players heading into the 2026 season.
In 2026, Balis started all 21 games and set a Clemson program record for career draw controls, recording her 184th against No. 21 Virginia. She finished the season with 139 draw controls, bringing her career total to a program-record 287.
As a freshman in 2025, Balis earned IWLCA All-South Region Second Team and All-ACC Third Team honors. She was also named Inside Lacrosse's No. 12 Impact Freshman and earned Inside Lacrosse Midseason All-America Honorable Mention recognition. Balis finished her freshman campaign with the second-most draw controls by a freshman in Division I and the second-highest total by any ACC player.
Romeo played four seasons at Davidson before transferring to Maryland. Prior to college, she was named a New Jersey Top 100 player and earned MVP and First Team All-Raritan honors during her senior season. Romeo joins the Terps with one year of eligibility remaining.
