Terps, Uplifting Athletes to Hold Touchdown & Turnover Pledge Drive

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland Chapter of Uplifting Athletes is holding a Touchdown and Turnover Pledge Drive on November 26 as the Terrapins host Rutgers at SECU Stadium. The goal of the drive is to inspire and support the rare disease community.
Today, the challenges faced by those impacted by rare diseases are bigger than any one individual, team, or organization can tackle alone. The Maryland Chapter is uniquely positioned to raise awareness and engage the local community to help ensure no person impacted by a rare disease feels alone in their journey and that everyone is inspired with hope for the future.
"For Maryland football, every game is a big game because it's the next one. Our game against Rutgers is more than just a game," Maryland Chapter President and linebacker Alex Simet said. "Win, lose or draw, we pledge each touchdown and turnover to help the rare disease community. Let's all bond together to fight and win for those struggling with rare diseases."
You can help tackle rare disease by making a pledge for each touchdown scored and turnover forced by the Terrapins against the Scarlet Knights. Then watch and cheer among fans, friends, and family as each Maryland big play helps raise money to support people impacted by rare diseases.

The Maryland Chapter started tackling rare diseases in 2009 when it joined Uplifting Athletes. The student-athlete led Maryland Chapter serves the Rare Disease Community in honor of former Terrapins quarterback Boomer Esiason.
Esiason's son, Gunnar, lives with the rare disease cystic fibrosis and his battle served as the inspiration for Maryland football to join Uplifting Athletes.
