COLLEGE PARK, MD – The Maryland men's basketball team dropped a 110-87 decision to the Iowa Hawkeyes on Thursday night inside the XFINITY Center. The Terps (11-13, 3-10 Big Ten) shot the ball well, making 48% of its field goals and 54% on its threes, but couldn't match the blistering 18 threes that the Hawkeyes made.

Fatts Russell (20 points and tying his season-high with six assists) and Hakim Hart (19 points) led the way for Maryland.

Iowa (16-7, 6-6) was led by Keegan Murray and Jordan Bohannon, each of whom alo scored 30 points. Bohannon's 10 threes are an XFINITY Center record.

Double-Figure Update

Russell (20 points) hit double-figures for the 19th time this season and 95th time in his career.
Hart (19 points) scored in double figures for the 12th time this season and 20th time in his career.
Martinez (10 points), hit double-figures for the second time as a Terp after doing six times last season at Utah.
Dockery (career-high 10 points)

Eyes on Ayala

Ayala's nine points now gives him 1366 for his career, good for 26th all-time in program history, and passing Tony Massenburg's 1354 points.
The senior now trails Will Hetzel's 1370, which was scored between 1967-70.
Ayala also knocked down one three-pointer, giving him 207 for his career, passing his former backcourt mate Anthony Cowan Jr. for sole possession of third place all-time in program history.

500 For Fatts

Fatts Russell dished out his 500th career assist on Ayala's three-point field goal with 13:24 remaining in the first half.
Russell accounted for five assists on the Terps first five made field goals – all from three-point range.

Notable Firsts

Marcus Dockery scored in double-digits for the first time in his career at Maryland.
Aidan McCool scored his first points as a Terp with two late free throws.
Brett Karkus saw his first action of the season late in the second half.
