Four In A row! Softball Beats Dartmouth, 5-2

CONWAY, SC — Maryland softball won its fourth straight game on Sunday morning, downing Dartmouth, 5-2.

The Terrapins got on the board first. In the second inning, shortstop Ruby Butler singled home Taylor Okada. Merissa Borkowski followed with a sacrifice fly, giving Maryland a 2-0 advantage.

Dartmouth was quick to answer, tying the game at two with a solo home run in the second and a run on an out in the third.

Maryland got the lead back in the top of the fourth, with a big two-run single from Jaeda McFarland that plated Butler and Michaela Jones.

Greico goes yard again
  • Mackense Greico ripped her third home run of the weekend, blasting one over the left field fence in the seventh inning.
  • It extended the Terps' lead to 5-2
Terrapins' Strong Pitching
  • Courtney Wyche went four innings, allowing two runs on five hits.
  • Trinity Schlotterbeck relieved her with three innings of work, in which she surrendered just one hit and no runs.
  • Both pitchers totaled 10 strikeouts.
Big day for Butler
  • Ruby Butler reached base three times on Sunday, going 2-for-2 with a walk.
  • The first hit was an RBI single, and the second was a double from which she would score.

  • Maryland is back in action on Friday, March 4, against Villanova at 11 a.m.
  • It'll open a weekend at the Queen City Classic in Charlotte, North Carolina, where the Terps will see the Wildcats, UNC Charlotte and Boston College.
