
Bobby Zmarzlak Named Big Ten Player Of The Week

COLLEGE PARK, MD – Maryland outfielder Bobby Zmarzlak was named the Big Ten Player of The Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Zmarzlak earned the honor after a spectacular four games at the plate against James Madison and Ohio State. The Stamford, Connecticut, native batted a staggering .533, leading the No. 21 Terps to a perfect 4-0 mark.
The outfielder collected two hits and two runs scored against James Madison on Tuesday before delivering a dramatic three-run walk-off home run on Friday night against Ohio State, a game in which he had two hits and four RBIs in total. Zmarzlak homered again with a two-run blast on Saturday and finished the week going 3-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs on Sunday in Maryland's 16-1 victory.
Zmarzlak has been a mainstay in the lineup this season, starting in left field in every single game. Coming out of Westhill High School in Connecticut, Zmarzlak was drafted in the 40th round of the 2019 MLB Draft by the Baltimore Orioles before deciding to enroll at Maryland.
Maryland has taken home the most Big Ten Player of The Week awards in 2022 as Zmarzlak is the fourth Terp to earn the honor this season. Matt Shaw, Troy Schreffler Jr., and Nick Lorusso have all taken home the award this year.
