Logan Wisnauskas Named Tewaaraton Finalist

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Graduate attackman Logan Wisnauskas has been named one of five 2022 Tewaaraton Award Finalists, the organization announced Thursday afternoon.

Wisnauskas, the program's all-time leader in points, has posted 48 goals, 36 assists, and 84 points this season for the undefeated Terps and their electric offense. Ten of his 37 career hat tricks have come this season alongside twelve 5+ point performances. He posted seven points in each game of the Big Ten Tournament to be named Tournament MVP. During the tournament he also set the program record for career points in the tournament with 29.

Not only do his 321 career points stand alone, but so do his seven eight-point performances. He also sits top-five in career goals and assists. This past season he was a four-time Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, bringing his career tally of weekly honors up to 12, tied for best in history with Penn State's Gerard Arceri.

In the past week he has also been named USA Lacrosse Magazine All-American, earned the 2022 Big Ten Medal of Honor, and was selected first overall by Chrome LC in the 2022 PLL Draft.

The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and top female college lacrosse player in the United States. Finalists come from a pool of 25 men's and 25 women's nominees. The Tewaaraton Recipients will be awarded on June 2.

Maryland has now had a Tewaaraton Finalist for six straight seasons. Wisnauskas is just the fifth Maryland player in history to be selected as a finalist, joining Jared Bernhardt (2019, 2021), Connor Kelly (2018), Matt Rambo (2017) and Joe Walters (2006). Bernhardt took home the 2021 Tewaaraton Award and Rambo won the 2017 Tewaaraton Award.

Wisnauskas is joined by Chris Gray (North Carolina), Brendan Nichtern (Army), Connor Shellenberger (Virginia), and Sam Handley (Pennsylvania).

About The Tewaaraton Foundation

Founded at the University Club of Washington, DC and first presented in 2001, the Tewaaraton Award is recognized as the preeminent lacrosse award, annually honoring the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. Endorsed by the Mohawk Nation Council of Elders and U.S. Lacrosse, the Tewaaraton Award symbolizes lacrosse's centuries-old roots in Native American heritage. The Tewaaraton Foundation ensures the integrity and advances the mission of this award. Each year, the Tewaaraton Award celebrates one of the six tribal nations of the Iroquois Confederacy – the Mohawk, Cayuga, Oneida, Onondaga, Seneca and Tuscarora – and presents two scholarships to students of Native American descent.
