COLLEGE PARK, MD -Â The No. 2 seeded Maryland women's lacrosse team will play in its 28th Final Four as the Terps face No. 3 Boston College in the National Semifinals on Friday, May 27 at 3:00Â p.m. at Homewood Field. The game will air on ESPNU with Jay Alter, Sheehan Stanwick Burch and Dana Boyle on the call.
NCAA SEMIFINALSÂ STORYLINES
tourney time
- Maryland has won four of the last seven National Championships, last winning in 2019.
- The Terps lead the nation with 37 NCAA appearances and are also tops in wins (78), championship game appearances (22) and NCAA titles (14). The Terps are making their 32nd consecutive appearance in the postseason (1990-2021).
- The Terps have made 12 of the past 13 Final Fours dating back to 2009. Under Cathy Reese, Maryland has five National Championships (2010, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2019).
- Reese is 40-9 at Maryland in the NCAA Tournament, making 12 Final Fours and eight championship games.
- Maryland is 8-3 in Semifinal games under Reese and has won six of the last seven.
- Maryland has opened up its NCAA Tournament run with dominant wins over No. 13 Duke and No. 7 Florida, defeating both by 13 goals.
- Shaylan Ahearn has been sensational in the draw circle over the last two, securing 20. Libby May has led the offense, scoring five goals in each game. May now has 15 goals over the last 3 games and 32 points over the last 6 games, both the most on the team.

- Maryland won the Big Ten Tournament Championship this season, giving the Terps both the Regular Season and Tournament titles.
- The Terps have won 10 Big Ten titles (six regular season championships (2015-19, 22) & four Tournament Championships (2016-18, 22)) and 31 conference championships in total, winning 21 in the ACC (10 Regular Season, 11 Tournament).
- In eight seasons in the league, Maryland is 43-5 in Big Ten regular season play and 52-8 overall including the Big Ten Tournament.

- Last time the Final Four was at Homewood Field, the Terps won the National Championship, defeating Boston College 12-10 in the title game.
- Maryland set a semifinal record for goals against Northwestern the game prior, scoring 25 goals in a 25-13 win.Â
AURORA CORDINGLEY - TEWAARATON FINALIST
- Aurora Cordingley was selected as a Tewaaraton Finalist on May 12, solidifying herself as one of the five best players in women's lacrosse.
- Also the Big Ten Attacker of the Year, Cordingley currently stands fourth in the nation in both points (116) and assists (50).
- The attacker also stands seventh in the nation with a phenomenal .584 shooting percentage.
- The team captain has made her mark in Maryland lore, currently standing fifth all-time in both single season points and assists, recently passing three-time Tewaaraton winner Taylor Cummings and national player of the year Kelly Amonte.
- Cordingley has over five points in 14-of-20 games this season, over seven points in eight games and two double digit point games, the most since Alex Aust in 2013.
- The Canadian National Team Member totaled 16 points (six goals, 10 assists) in the Big Ten Tournament en route to earning MVP honors.
- Cordingley has recorded at least one point in 52-straight games dating back to April 25, 2018. The first 32 of those games were at Johns Hopkins, where combined with her 20 games at Maryland, she has 27 career games with at least five points.
- Maryland has had a Tewaaraton finalist in every season under Cathy Reese, with Cordingley becoming Reese's 22nd finalist. In total, the Terps have had 26 finalists in the 20 years of the award. Lizzie Colson was a finalist last season.

BIG TEN HONORS
- The Terps cleaned up Big Ten honors this past week with Aurora Cordingley being selected as the Big Ten Attacker of the Year, Abby Bosco being chosen as the Big Ten Defender of the Year and Emily Sterling being named the Big Ten Goaltender of the Year.
- Maryland has now won the Big Ten Defender of the Year award in each of its seven years in the conference, with Bosco becoming the sixth Terp to earn that distinction (Megan Douty, 2015; Alice Mercer, 2016; Nadine Hadnagy, 2017; Julia Braig, 2018-19; Lizzie Colson, 2021).
sterling saves
- Goalie Emily Sterling has been a brick wall in net this season, currently leading the nation with a .549 save percentage and standing second with a 7.36 goals against average.
- The Big Ten Goaltender of the Year has over a 50-percent save percentage in 12-of-19 games this season and had an amazing .626 save percentage in Big Ten play.
- A Tewaaraton nominee and unanimous First Team All-Big Ten selection, Sterling has been named the IWLCA National Defensive Player of the Week three times this season, the USA Lacrosse Magazine National Player of the Week once and has been selected as the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week five times, the most since Tewaaraton recipient Megan Taylor in 2019.
- Sterling was selected as a First Team All-American by Inside Lacrosse this week.
SERIES HISTORY
- Maryland leads the all-time series against Boston College 14-1.
- The Terps and Eagles met in three-straight Final Fours from 2017-19, with Maryland defeating BC in the 2017 & 2019 National Championship games and Boston College beating Maryland in the 2018 Semifinals.
