
Four Terps Earn IWLCA All-American Honors

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Four members of the Maryland women's lacrosse team, Abby Bosco, Aurora Cordingley, Emily Sterling and Hannah Leubecker, earned All-American honors, the IWLCA announced Thursday.
Bosco, Cordingley and Sterling were all selected to the First Team while Leubecker was named to the Third Team. Maryland is tied with North Carolina for the most First Team members. This is the 13th straight year that Maryland has had at least three All-Americans.
Bosco has led a Maryland defense that is allowing 7.35 goals per game, the second lowest mark in the country. The Big Ten's leader with 63 groundballs, Bosco has defended the opponents best player this season, helping hold 17 of 20 opponents to under 10 goals. The Big Ten Defender of the Year, Bosco leads the team with 26 caused turnovers and stands second with 84 draw controls. Bosco was also a Tewaaraton nominee, named First Team All-Big Ten and the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week on March 8. This is the first IWLCA All-American honor of Bosco's career.
Cordingley has had an all-time great season as Maryland's lead attacker this season, totaling 116 points (66 goals, 50 assists), of which the points and assist totals put her No. 5 all-time in program history. A captain on this year's team, Cordingley ranks top four in the nation averaging 5.80 points per game and 2.50 assists per game. The graduate attacker is a Tewaaraton Finalist, the Big Ten Attacker of the Year, the Big Ten Tournament MVP and a four-time National Player of the Week and Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week. This is Cordingley's second All-American honor and first First Team nod.
Sterling has been spectacular in goal all season long, leading the country with a .549 save percentage and standing second with a 7.36 goals against average, 161 saves to only 132 goals allowed. In conference play, Sterling set the Big Ten record for the highest save percentage ever by a goalie, standing at an incredible .626. The junior has over a 50-percent save percentage in 12 of 20 games this season and has double digit saves in seven games, including a career-high 16 in the Big Ten Regular Season Championship against No. 2 Northwestern. The junior was the Big Ten Goaltender of the Year, a Tewaaraton nominee, First Team All-Big Ten, a three-time National Player of the Week and five-time Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week. This is Sterling's first career IWLCA All-American honor.
Leubecker has been key piece to a potent Maryland offense, standing third on the team in both points (66) and goals (57) and also has 19 groundballs, 10 draw controls and eight caused turnovers. Leubecker has at least one point in every game this season and at least a hat-trick in 12 of 20 games. Her second straight season with 50-plus points, the junior was a First Team All-Big Ten selection, a 2021 All-American and was selected as the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week in March. This is Leubecker's second straight season as an IWLCA Third Team All-American.
