Fifth-Seeded Maryland Faces Host Michigan State In Big Ten Tournament

ROSEMONT, IL - Maryland softball has been named the No. 5 seed in the upcoming Big Ten Tournament, the highest seed the Terps have received since joining the conference in 2015. Maryland will take on No. 12 seed and host Michigan State on Wednesday, May 11 at 7:00PM (ET) live on the Big Ten Network.
The Terps head into the tournament with one of their best seasons under their belts since joining the Big Ten. Maryland started conference play hot winning three series in a row; their most ever. The 14 wins over Big Ten foes marked a new record for Maryland, and the Terps saw their first-ever conference Pitcher of the Week in junior Courtney Wyche (4/25). For three straight weeks, Maryland has held the No. 1 title in both the Big Ten and nation for stolen bases (average per game and total), with Megan Mikami leading the way at a perfect 28-28.
With a win over Michigan State, Maryland will play No. 4 seed Michigan on Thursday, May 12 at 7:00pm. The Terps previously took a game over the No. 22 ranked Wolverines this season (4/14), their second of the year after a walk-off-win over then No. 17 Missouri (2/20).
