Chris Alleyne were selected on Day Three of the MLB Draft Tuesday afternoon.
Maryland three draftees are its most in a single draft since 2017. The trio helped key the Terps' historic 2022 campaign that included a school record for victories and the program's first conference title in 51 years.
Ramsey was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the 13th round (385th overall). A first-team All-Big Ten selection, Ramsey finished the season 11-1 with a 3.22 ERA and 90 strikeouts in 92.1 IP. He was named an ABCA/Rawlings Second Team All-American, with his 11 wins ranking second in the nation, and second in program history in a single season.
The Montvale, N.J., native made history on April 29, throwing the second perfect game in Maryland history in a 13-0 win over Northwestern. It was just the 20th nine-inning perfect game in NCAA Baseball history. Ramsey was a second-team All-Big Ten selection in 2021.
Ramsey is the first Terrapin ever drafted by Kansas City.
Schreffler Jr., was taken by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 15th round (452nd overall). He had a breakout season during the Terps historic campaign, slashing .340/.421/.557 with a team high 23 doubles. A third-team All-Big Ten selection, the Harrisburg, Pa., native hit 10 home runs, stole 14 bases and had 57 RBIs. He was a member of the 2022 Big Ten All-Tournament Team.
Schreffler Jr., is the fifth Terp taken by the Phillies all-time and the first since Zach Morris was a 24th round pick of the club in 2015.
Alleyne was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 19th round (585th overall). He put together one of the finest offensive seasons in school history, setting a school record with 24 home runs en route to being named a consensus All-American. The 2022 Big Ten Player of the Year, Alleyne slashed .331/.422/.673 with 79 RBIs and 24 steals. He was the first Division I player to notch 20 home runs and 20 steals in a season since 2018.
The Philadelphia native is all over the Terrapins' all-time lists, ranking in the top-10 in nine offensive categories in program history. He was a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award, given to the nation's best player, and a member of the College Park All-Regional team. He was also an All-Big Ten selection in 2021.
Alleyne is the third Terp selected by the Dodgers and the first since Ben O'Connor in 1990.
