Shaw. Shilger Named Cape Cod League All-Stars

COLLEGE PARK, MD. -- Maryland infielder Matt Shaw and catcher Luke Shliger were named 2022 Cape Cod League All-Star selections, the organization announced Sunday. Shaw will represent the West Division, while Shliger suits up for the East Division.
Shaw has been a force for the Bourne Braves this summer, batting .367 with five home runs, 17 RBIs and 12 stolen bases over 24 games. Shaw's .367 mark at the plate currently leads the Cape Cod League. Shaw also ranks second in both RBIs and home runs as the Brimfield, Massachusetts, native continues to build on an exceptional 2022 campaign for the Terps that saw him hit .290 with 22 home runs and 67 RBIs. He was a first-team All-Big Ten selection.
The Bourne Braves currently sit third in the West Division, holding a 14-12-6 record.
A second-team All-Big Ten selection in 2022, Shliger has earned Cape Cod League All-Star honors after a stellar stretch with the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox. In 24 games, Shliger is batting .294 with 7 RBIs and 15 walks. The Danbury, Connecticut, native leads the CCBL with a .437 on-base percentage.
The Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox currently lead the East Division with a league-best 17-9-6 record.
Shaw and Shliger will square off Saturday, July 23 at Spillane Field in Wareham, Massachusetts, first pitch is set for 5:55 p.m. The game will be broadcasted live on WCAI and available on the Cape and Islands NPR radio stations. The game will also be available the next day, Sunday, July 24 at 9 p.m. on NESN.
