Terps Open Season With Strong Team Performance at Goucher

Baltimore, MD — The Maryland cross country squad opened their 2022 campaign with a strong team performance at the Baltimore Metro Meet, earning a second place team result.
The Terps squad competed in the 5K at the Baltimore Metro Meet. In a tight competition with Johns Hopkins the Terps placed 4 women in the top 10.

Sophomore Katie Altieri led the way for the Terps, racing to a second place finish with a time of 18:16.1.

Anna Coffin (18:28.8) was also in the top of the pack posting a fourth place finish.

Katie Turk (18:46.6) raced to a sixth place finish for the Maryland squad.

Sophia Zell raced to a top ten finish, crossing the line in 18:56.3

Katie Ericson (19:07.7) was the fifth scorer for the squad.

Katerina Talanova (19:15.3), Claudia Dolan and Kirstin Nichols also competed for the Terps squad.

Rubie Goffena and AnnaMarie Tretola made their Terrapin debuts in the 5K

"This meet was a rust buster as the squad builds on their summer fitness and prepares for the season. Today we worked well together as a group and ran strong in the front of the race."
