College Park, MD -- Maryland field hockey midfielder Sophie Klautz has been named Big Ten Freshman of The Week, the Conference announced Monday.

Sophie Klautz earns her second B1G Freshman of The Week honor after contributing heavily for the Terrapins over a perfect 2-0 weekend in College Park. The midfielder totaled one goal on five shots and opened the scoring for Maryland in a dominant 7-2 win over Michigan State.

The Oegstgeest, The Netherlands native has already notched five career starts and leads all Maryland freshman with three goals over the team's first 10 games.

Maryland will return to action as they travel to No. 5 Iowa on Friday Sept. 30 at 4:00 p.m., the game can be streamed via Big Ten Plus.
