Matt Shaw Named Perfect Game Baseball Summer POY

College Park, MD -- Matt Shaw has been named the Perfect Game Baseball Summer Player of The Year, the organization announced Wednesday.
The 2022 Cape Cod League MVP and CCBL Champion receives the honor after a tremendous summer season. Shaw was a catalyst for the Bourne Braves batting for a league leading .363 average while earning a place near the top of the league with five home runs, 17 RBIs and a .414 OBP. Shaw exemplified his skills behind the plate by becoming the first player since 2011 to hit for the cycle in the Cape Cod league during an 8-1 victory over the Hyannis Harbor Hawks. The Brimfield, Massachusetts native was a key player in Bourne's Championship series, going 3-5 from the plate with one home run and two RBIs in the title clinching game.
With Shaw leading the way, the Bourne Braves secured the President's Trophy, which is given to the team with the best regular season record each year. This marks the second consecutive season that the Braves have received the award, becoming the first team to accomplish the feat since the President's Trophy was unveiled in 2012.
