Klebasko Awarded Big Ten Freshman Of The Week

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Goalkeeper Alyssa Klebasko has been awarded Big Ten Freshman of the Week as announced by the conference on Monday.

Klebasko had a career weekend during No. 10 Maryland's trip to the midwest. She started in goal against No. 16 Michigan and No. 9 Ohio State, leading the Terps to a sweep and extending their win streak to five games.

The Odenton, Maryland, native posted a career-high eight saves against the Wolverines to aid the Terps to a 1-0 victory in Ann Arbor. Klebasko earned her third shutout of the season. In Columbus, she posted another stellar performance with six saves on the day, including two in the final minutes of fourth quarter to keep Maryland up, 2-1, over the Buckeyes.

She owns five wins over ranked opponents after this weekend and remains undefeated as a starter. Klebasko leads the NCAA in save percentage at .885. She owns a goals-against average of .614 which ranks second in the Big Ten and third in the NCAA.

Klebasko and the Maryland field hockey program return home to resume conference play on Friday, October 20 as they host No. 6 Iowa at 5 p.m.
