Klebasko Named Big Ten Freshman Of The Week

Additionally Awarded Solomon Eye Physicians and Surgeons Terp of the Week

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Goalkeeper Alyssa Klebasko has been awarded Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the second consecutive week, as announced by the conference office on Monday. Her performance in goal, also, earned her her first Solomon Eye Physicians and Surgeons Terp of the Week honor.

Klebasko, a native of Odenton, Maryland, tallied two more wins for the No. 9 Terps over the weekend. She made five saves against No. 5 Iowa in a 4-1 win and seven against Indiana in a 2-1 win, allowing only two goals the entire weekend as the Terps extended their win streak to seven games.

The freshman remains undefeated as a starter, 10-0, including six wins over Big Ten teams. She owns six wins over ranked opponents after this weekend. Klebasko continues to lead the NCAA in save percentage at .881. She owns a goals-against average of .680 which ranks second in the Big Ten and third in the NCAA.

Klebasko and the Maryland field hockey team now stands at 14-3 overall and 6-1 in the Big Ten, putting them in contention for a regular season conference title. The team will travel to Chicago, Illinois to face No. 1 Northwestern on October 26 at 4 p.m. The game will be broadcast on Big Ten Network.
