Dancing! Terrapins to Host NCAA First and Second Rounds

COLLEGE PARK, Md.  –  The Maryland field hockey team (16-5) earned its 35th overall NCAA Tournament bid Sunday night. The Terrapins are the No. 4 overall seed and will take on Old Dominion (14-5) Friday at noon in the NCAA First Round at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex.

Virginia (12-6) will take on Saint Joseph's (15-4) Friday in College Park at 2:30 p.m., with the winning teams advancing to the NCAA Quarterfinals Sunday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.

Parking for Friday's matchups will be available in lot 11b free of charge beginning at 10:00 a.m.

The Terrapins own a record of 68-26 (.725) in the NCAA Tournament and a record of 64-25 (.720) under head coach Missy Meharg.

The Terrapins have advanced to 21 Final Fours and have won eight NCAA titles (1987, 1993, 1999, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2011).

Maryland fell to Northwestern, 1-0 in double overtime, in the Big Ten Tournament Championship game Sunday. Freshmen Josie Hollamon and Alyssa Klebasko were named to the Big Ten All-Tournament Team.

Four Big Ten teams earned NCAA Tournament bids, including Maryland, Rutgers, Northwestern and Iowa.
