GAINESVILLE, FL –
Victoria Hensh scored with 17 seconds left in regulation to give No. 6 Maryland a dramatic 14-13 win at No. 7 Florida on Saturday afternoon. Hensh scored three of her career-best four goals in the decisive fourth quarter as the Terps rallied from a 10-8 deficit in the fourth quarter.
The Terps moved to 3-1 overall while Florida is now 1-2.
For the second game in a row, Libby May led the Terps with six goals. May has 12 total goals in her last two games, also scoring six at Drexel on Tuesday.
Eloise Clevenger had a career-best five assists for the Terps. Maryland's other goals came from Hannah Leubecker, Shannon Smith, Kate Sites and Jordyn Lipkin.
The game was tied three times in the fourth quarter, at 10-10, 11-11 and 13-13, but the Terps responded and took the lead and eventually the victory following each time score. May scored two of her six goals in the fourth quarter and Kate Sites, scored her a clutch goal to tie the game at 11-11 for her first goal of the season.
Emily Sterling made eight saves for the Terps.
Breaking Down The Action
- Maryland scored just 27 seconds into the game as May notched her 10th goal of the season. The Terps had four different goal scorers to take a 4-2 lead on Leubecker's first of the game. The Terps led 7-4 after the first quarter as Lipkin and May scored in the final 33 seconds of the period.
- Maryland held Florida off the scoreboard for nearly 12 minutes in taking an 8-4 lead. But the Gators responded with four goals in 4:28 to tie the game at 8-8 with four minutes left in the first half. The game was deadlocked at eight at intermission.
- Florida strung six goals together spanning the second and third quarters to take a 10-8 lead. The Gators kept Maryland off the scoreboard for the entire third quarter to lead 10-8 after three.
- After not scoring for more than 30 minutes, the Terps cut Florida's deficit to one as May scored her fifth goal of the game. Hensh tied the game at 10-10 with 12 minutes left. The Gators regained the lead on LoPinto's fourth goal of the game with 8:54. Sites' first goal of the season tied the game at 11-11 on a free position shot with 8:05 left. Hensh regained the lead for Maryland with 7:15 left at 12-11. May's sixth of the day pushed the Terps lead back to two at 13-11 with 6:18 left.
- Florida scored the next two goals to tie the game at 13 with 1:19 left in regulation.
- Hensh notched the game-winner with 18 seconds left with the shot to the upper right corner.

- May had her 20th career hat trick of her career and third against Florida – as she recorded three goals in the first quarter alone.
- Hensh had three goals on a game for the third time in her career.
Draw Queen
- Shaylan Ahearn continues to move up the all-time draw controls list as she now has 210 to stand fifth all-time at Maryland. With six at Florida, she passed Dana Dobbie (2007-08), who had 205 in her career.
- This was the sixth game in Ahearn's career with 10 or more draws and three have come against Florida, as she did it both meetings last season.
