LYNCHBURG, VA – No. 23 Maryland secured a perfect weekend at the Flames Classic at Liberty with a 4-1 win over Sacred Heart. The Terps went 4-0 to claim their second weekend sweep in a row, after going 5-0 at East Carolina last weekend.
The Terps (19-4 overall) have now won 10 games in a row for their longest win streak since winning 13 in a row in 2011. This is the Terps' best start to a season since starting 20-3 in 2008.
Early runs put Maryland in a good position to claim victory in this close game. Lead-off batter
Megan Mikami powered the offense, going 2-2 with one run scored, one RBI, and two stolen bases.
Trinity Schlotterbeck performed well in the circle, going for six innings and tossing four strikeouts. The pitcher recorded three, three-up-three-down innings in the game. Freshman
Keira Bucher came in for relief, retiring the remaining batters and earning a save.
Sacred Heart finished the weekend 1-3, moving to 6-8 overall.

- The Terps got on the board first off a Taylor Liguori RBI single that scored Michaela Jones.
- Schlotterbeck retired three straight batters to make quick work out of Sacred Heart in the third.
- Maryland tacked on two more runs in the fourth thanks to back-to-back doubles by Sammi Woods and Mikami. Woods' RBI knocked in pinch runner Gracelyn Solarz before she touched home off of Mikami's hit.
- Sacred Heart answered with an RBI double in the fifth, bringing the score to 3-1.
- A sacrifice bunt by Jaeda McFarland in the sixth knocked in Mikami, adding to the Terps' lead.
