MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The No. 41 University of Maryland women's tennis team (11-3) beat Memphis (4-11), 5-2, on the road Sunday at the Leftwich Tennis Center. The Terps won the doubles point by winning courts 1 and 2. Maryland won in singles on courts 1, 3, 5 and 6.
Coach Dougherty's Remarks
"We had a great week of practice leading up to Memphis and it showed today in how we competed and executed. We started strong in doubles and carried that momentum into singles. They have a four court facility so Hannah and Fran started their matches when the team score was 3-2 and knowing we needed one more point to clinch. They both did a great job of grabbing leads and not looking back. Quick turnaround this week and heading out to play a good FAU team to close out our non-conference schedule. Ruth and I are very happy with where we are at this point in the season and looking forward to every weekend as a great opportunity."
