COLLEGE PARK, MD. - The University of Maryland softball team will host Maryland Eastern Shore for their first midweek matchup of the 2023 season. Wednesday's game will be streamed on B1G+. First pitch is scheduled for 6 pm.

scouting the foes

Maryland Eastern Shore has opened up its 2023 season with a overall record, picking up wins against South Carolina State, Howard, Holy Cross,and Delaware State.
The Terps and the Hawks have not met since 2005.
The Terps have a 6-13 record against the Hoosiers. Maryland and Indiana did not meet in the 2022 season; Indiana took the series 2-1 in 2021.

The Terps enter its first midweek matchup with an overall record of 22-8, their best start since the 2008 season.
Maryland has 21 home runs on the season so far, already surpassing their homerun total from the 2022 season of 17. Amelia Lech has been powering the offense with 11 of those home runs.
Freshman pitcher Keira Bucher currently leads the nation in saves with 9 on the season. She is one save away from tying the Big Ten record.

The Terps dropped their opening three games of Big Ten play against Indiana.
Michaela Jones led the Maryland offense throughout the three games, finishing the weekend batting .714 with five hits and two runs
Amelia Lech hit two more home runs bringing her total to 11 on the season, tied for the most in the Big Ten

fresh faces

Maryland welcomes seven newcomers to the 2023 squad.
Sammi Woods and Madison Runyan look to make an immediate impact for the Terps in the middle infield positions. Gracelyn Solarz and Sydney Lewis will also look to contribute to the team's success in the infield.
Nicole Bodeux, Keria Bucher, Genevieve Ebaugh all come to Maryland after strong prep career's on the mound. The trio of new Terps will be mixed in with an experienced pitching rotation led by Courtney Wyche and Trinity Schlotterbeck.
