MINNEAPOLIS, MN – No. 18 Maryland (4-7) looked to get the bats going early and often, but Hawaii's (6-4) pitching proved to be the difference in a 9-3 loss on Sunday in the Cambria College Classic at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Terps fell to 4-7 with the loss.

Maryland tied things up at 1-1. in the bottom of the first as a pair of doubles, started by Matt Shaw, plated home a run as Nick Lorusso drove him home. Like on Saturday against Vanderbilt, the Terps looked to use the fifth inning to their advantage, getting a rally going with a Matt Woods RBI sacrifice fly.

Elijah Lambros followed, getting hit with the bases loaded to drive home another run, but that was all the Terps had going in the fifth before the Rainbow Warriors were able to get out of it.

Hawaii scored in five of nine innings on Sunday, scoring twice in the top of the fourth after Maryland tied things up in the first and once in the sixth and eighth after the Terps cut things to a 4-3 game.

Nate Haberthier had one of his best starts in a Maryland uniform this season, giving up three earned runs and five total runs in 5.1 innings of work, striking out three while walking just one. Offensively, five Maryland players recorded hits and three recorded RBIs.

For Hawaii, Stone Miyao and Matt Wong led offensively, with Miyao going 4-for-5 with two RBI and Wong going 2-for-4 with three runs scored. Jacob Igawa, with his two-run homer in the ninth, also had a big day, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Kyson Donahue also hit a homer for Hawaii in the win, a solo shot in the ninth. On the mound, Rainbow Warriors pitching combined to five up five hits and three runs overall.

Hawaii got on the board first in the top of the first as Zeigler scored off an error, 0-1.
Maryland tied things up in the bottom-half of the first, with back-to-back doubles from Shaw and Lorusso, 1-1.
Miyao and Duarte recorded RBI singles in top of the fourth to give the Rainbow Warriors a two-run lead, 1-3.
Quandt drove in a run with an RBI sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth, adding onto Hawaii's lead, 1-4.
Maryland cut into the Hawaii lead in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI sacrifice fly from Woods and a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch from Lambros, 3-4.
Miyao drove in his second run of the game with an RBI double in the top of the sixth, giving Hawaii some cushion late 3-5.
Hawaii added on in the top of the eighth with a bases-loaded hit by pitch of Donahue, 3-6.
Rainbow Warriors tacked on three more in the ninth off a two-run shot from Igawa and a solo homer from Donahue, 3-9.
