COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Four members of the Maryland softball team earned NFCA All-Region honors, the NFCA announced Wednesday.
A trio of Terps,
Courtney Wyche,
Jaeda McFarland and
Trinity Schlotterbeck earned NFCA Midwest Region Second team honors, while
Amelia Lech earned Midwest Third team honors.
Senior Courtney Wyche has been a constant threat in the circle all season for the Terps. Wyche wracked up 17 wins in 30 appearances over the course of the regular season. Wyche recorded a career-high 179 strikeouts in the circle this season, bringing her total to 412 on her career.
Junior Jaeda McFarland racks up another postseason honor after being named to the All-Big Ten second team. McFarland is top-three on the team in six different offensive categories, slugging percentage, runs, hits, RBIs, doubles and batting average and is also second on the team in stolen bases. Appearing and starting in all 52 games in center field for the Terps, McFarland finished the regular season with a perfect fielding percentage.
Senior
Trinity Schlotterbeck has been a versatile force for the Terps all season long. Schlotterbeck has a team-low ERA of 1.90 in 121 innings pitched for Maryland. When not in the circle, Schlotterbeck has made her presence felt in right field totaling 27 putouts and 28 assists. The senior has also been a constant offensive threat as she is second on the team in home runs (6) and second on the team in RBIs (40).
Sophomore
Amelia Lech picks up her first postseason honor of her collegiate career. Lech has been driving the Maryland offense with a team leading 15 homeruns and 46 RBIs.
The Terps have made their first postseason appearance since 2012 and fifth overall as they compete in the NISC this week in Fort Collins, CO.
