COLLEGE PARK, MD -- The Maryland gymnastics program has signed Hailey Merchant, to its class of 2023, Head Coach Brett Nelligan announced Tuesday. Merchant, comes to College Park after two years competing in the EAGL conference with the North Carolina State gymnastics program.

A native of Gambrills, Maryland Merchant competed on bars, floor and vault during her time with the Wolfpack. Merchant has shown competitive prowess in each event reaching career-highs of 9.875 on bars, 9.850 on floor and 9.800 on vault. Equally impressive in the classroom Merchant is a two-time All-EAGL Scholastic Team member.

"We are so excited for Hailey to return home and represent the state of Maryland," Nelligan said. "Hailey brings an incredible work ethic and will fit in with the team right away. Hailey will add depth to vault and floor and her bars are among the nation's best."

Merchant becomes the seventh member of Maryland gymnastics class of 2023, joining the Terps' six-person freshman class.
