Hardshells In The PLL - Week Three Recap

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - It was another entertaining and eventful weekend in the PLL with another pair of one-goal games and numerous SportsCenter-worthy highlights over the two days and the various Pro Terps were at the center of it all.

The weekend kicked off Friday night with two games that both went down the wire, resulting in a 19-18 win for the Waterdogs over the Atlas and a 14-13 win for the Cannons over the Chrome. The Archers started off the Saturday games with a win before the weekend wrapped up with the Whipsnakes, and the 11 Terps on the roster, earning their first win of the season with a dominant 18-11 win over the Redwoods.

Connor Kelly once again made numerous headlines, capped off by his second game-winner in three games this season. Additionally, several "WhipTerps" on the roster made a big impact, led by another big offensive performance for Matt Rambo and another standout performance in cage from Kyle Bernlohr.

The PLL will break for action until July 8 as several professional members head to San Diego to represent their respective countries in the 2023 World Lacrosse Men's Championship from June 21 to July 1. Five Terps are on Team USA: Jesse Bernhardt (team captain), Matt Dunn, Michael Ehrhardt (team captain), Connor Kelly and Matt Rambo.

Below is a full breakdown of all the Pro Terps' performances from the past weekend.

Atlas

For the second week in a row, Brett Makar finished with the second-most groundballs on the Atlas (five). Makar, the third overall pick in the 2023 Draft, continues to impress professionally.

Cannons

In the win for the Cannons, Bubba Fairman finished with a CT and GB while Jonathan Donville notched a groundball.

Chrome

2022 Tewaaraton Award Winner Logan Wisnauskas had his best game of the season, finishing with a team-high four points on three goals and an assist. Wisnauskas also added three groundballs and a caused turnover to round out his stellar day.

SSDM Alex Smith made an impact on both sides of the ball, notching an assist while playing sound defense and scooping a groundball. LSM Nick Grill was impactful defensively once again, causing two turnovers (tied for the team best) and recording a groundball.

redwoods

SSDM Isaiah Davis-Allen impressed defensively once again. The two-time all-star finished with a CT, three groundballs and a 1-for-1 mark at the faceoff X.

Waterdogs

Facing an early 6-0 deficit, the Waterdogs stormed back for a 19-18 comeback victory as Connor Kelly made headlines throughout the lacrosse world once again. This time, Kelly finished with a game-high nine points, three goals and three two-pointers. Two of his two-bombs came in the final quarter with the final one knotting the game at 18-18 with 58 seconds remaining. Kelly wasn't done there, however. He canned the game-winner with under ten seconds to go, his second game-winning goal in three games. Kelly also tallied a groundball.

Whipsnakes

The Whipsnakes earned their first win of the season in dominant fashion and multiple Terps were at the center of that victory. Matt Rambo was huge for the second consecutive week, tallying six points (4G, 2A) with three groundballs. Mike Chanenchuk also notched an assist.

The Whips got points from several unusual candidates including close defenseman Bryce Young (1G) and Matt Dunn (1A), LSM Michael Ehrhardt (1A), and goalie Kyle Bernlohr (1A). Dunn (2 CTs, 2 GBs), Young (4 GBS, 1 CT) and Tim Muller (2 CTS, 2 GBS) were all formidable at close defense as well. Ehrhardt notched a caused turnover and a groundball while SSDM Roman Puglise added two groundballs and a caused turnover.

Bernlohr continued his campaign for best professional goalie with another superb outing, making 12 saves for a 52.2 save percentage and corralling two groundballs in addition to his highlight-worthy assist.
