
Tagovailoa Named to Big Ten Preseason Honors List

INDIANAPOLIS Ind. - University of Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa has been named to the Big Ten Preseason Honors list, the conference announced on Wednesday morning.
A media panel selected the 10-member preseason list, with five representatives each from the East and West Divisions. Tagovailoa is the first Terp selected to the Big Ten Preseason Honors list since Maryland joined the conference in 2014.
Tagovailoa has helped ascend the Terrapins passing game to new heights during his three-year career. The quarterback has set Maryland career records for passing yards (7,879), passing touchdowns (51), total touchdowns (59), completions (665), completion percentage (67.4), 300-yard passing games (12), passing efficiency (146.2) and total offense (8,067).
Tagovailoa's current career completion percentage is the best of any Big Ten quarterback all-time with a minimum of 875 pass attempts. The Ewa Beach, Hawaii native was named Second Team All-Big Ten last season and garnered Academic All-Big Ten recognition as well.
The Big Ten Preseason Honors list was announced as Big Ten Media Days begin today at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Maryland's contingent, which includes Tagovailoa, head coach Michael Locksley, defensive back Tarheeb Still and running back Roman Hemby, meets the media on Thursday.
