Terps Win Baltimore Metro Meet as 5 Runners Place In Top Ten

BALTIMORE, MD - The Maryland cross country team won their first race of the season, competing in the women's 5K at the Baltimore Metro Meet hosted by Goucher College.

Five Terps finished in the top ten out of 89 competitors in the race, including second, third, and fourth place finishes for Anna Coffin, Rose Coats, and Katie Altieri. Coffin finished with a time of 18:03.8 to lead Maryland, while Coats and Altieri both ran sub-18:11.

Sophia Zell finished in sixth place with a time of 18:34.9, and Katie Turk rounded out the scorers for the Terps as she finished in 10th place.

Other Terp Notes:

AnnaMarie Tretola finished in the top-15, placing 14th.
Rubie Goffena and Hannah Mack both finished in the top-20, finishing 16th and 19th
Katerina Talanova also competed for the Terps, and finished in the top-30

"The goal of this first competition was to work as a team and win in our season opener. This group is dialed in and ready for the season ahead."

Up Next: The Terps will head to Annapolis next Saturday, September 9th to compete in the Navy Invitational.
