The Terps hold a 45-22-2 all-time lead over Virginia. The Maryland field hockey program started in the Atlantic Coastal Conference, annually facing Virginia as conference foes. Maryland joined the Big Ten in 2014, but continued to schedule matches with Virginia - maintaining high caliber play. Maryland leads the Cavaliers in Charlottesville with a 15-13-1 series record at Turf Field. The last time these squads met was during the 2022 regular season. Maryland has outscored its opponents 22-5, tallying 62 points to its competitions' 11. The Terps rank fourth in the Big Ten and 14 in the NCAA with a 3.00 goals per game average. Maryland owns the second highest assist total in the Big Ten with 19. The Terps have allowed only one first quarter goal through eight games. Maryland vs. Princeton standout performances Freshman Maci Bradford collected a career-high two-goal performance against the Tigers on Thursday. After the Terps fell into a 2-0 deficit, Bradford brought Maryland back to a 2-2 draw heading into the final quarter of regulation. The native of Delmar, Delaware, now owns the second highest point total on the team with 12, from four goals and four assists. Junior Hope Rose leads the Terps with 19 points after cashing in her first career hat trick against Miami (OH) and converting a penalty corner goal against Yale during the Terrapin Invitational. Rose owns three multi-score games this season, tallying a 1.12 goals per game average. That average locks her in fourth place in the Big Ten and 13 nationally. Fifth year Margot Lawn collected a career high four-point performance against Yale on Sunday. She owns the fourth highest assists per game value in the conference with 0.62. The Terps continue to showcase depth through their roster as they average sixteen players participating per match. Ten players have at least two points on the year, including nine goal scorers. Junior Paige Kieft and freshman Alyssa Klebasko continue to split time in the cage, as both goalkeepers have contributed to the teams three shutouts this season.  Maci Bradford Championship coaching Missy Meharg returns for her 36th season as head coach. A nine-time National Coach of the Year recipient, Meharg brings an unprecedented level of consistency and excellence to the Maryland field hockey program. Meharg became the third coach in Division I history to reach 600 wins in 2021. She is not shy of championships as she has led the Terps to seven national titles, including five in seven years,12 conference tournament crowns,15 conference regular season titles and 19 appearances in the NCAA Semifinals round, including 12 in the NCAA Finals.
