COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Coming off a top-15 upset that helped the Terps secure a crucial team win over Northwestern,
Michael North has been named the Big The Wrestler of the Week.
North, a redshirt senior from Wadsworth, OH, shares the honor with Rutgers' Jackson Turley.
The 32nd-ranked North pinned Northwestern's No. 13 Trevor Chumbley in the third period of the 157-pound bout, giving a crucial six points to Maryland in the team dual score against Northwestern. The win marked the highest ranked opponent North has defeated in his career.
His six points helped the Terps to a 29-15 win over the Wildcats. The 29 points were the most Maryland has ever scored in a B1G dual.
North now has a team-best five pins on the season.Â
North is the first Terp to receive this honor since Kyle Cochran won it on Jan. 4, 2022.Â
Maryland is back in action this weekend when it hits the road for a pair of conference duals. The Terps will firsr face Ohio State on Friday, Jan. 19 at 7 pm before heading to Bloomington to battle Indiana on Sunday, Jan. 21 at 1 pm. Both duals will be streamed on B1G+.Â
