NEW YORK, NY - The Maryland track and field team had an impressive showing on day one of the Dr. Sanders Invitational, with standout performances from
Jeff Kline,
Jayla Bynum,
Kevin Collins, and
Victoria Teasley

Kline was victorious in the men's collegiate shot put, throwing a monstrous 19.33m. The throw is the fourth-best mark in Division One this season and was just under two meters further than the next closest competitor.Â

Bynum, a graduate student out of Hutchinson, Kansas, took second place in the women's shot put with her throw of 14.64m.

Both Collins and Teasley qualified for the men's and women's 60m finals, with Collins running 6.91 in the prelims, and Teasley running 7.50 in hers. Teasley finished in fourth place in the finals, while Collins finished in fifth.

Other Highlights
- Rhys Allen also took part in the men's shot put and threw 16.28m, which was good for sixth place
- Kayla Thorpe also competed women's shot put and finished in the top ten, finishing in ninth
- Armanie Coleman competed in the 60m along with Teasley, running sub-seven seconds with a time of 6.95, and just narrowly missed out on qualifying for the finals
- Tyler Baruch made his season debut in the men's long jump
- Ashley Thomas competed in the women's 60H
