Game Recap: Field Hockey |

No. 5 Maryland Captures 800th Program Victory With 3-0 Shutout Over Indiana

BLOOMINGTON, IN Maryland field hockey became the second college program in the sport's history to win 800 games as the No. 5 Terrapins beat Indiana, 3-0, on Friday at Deborah Tobias Field. With the victory, the Terrapins move to 6-3 overall and 2-1 in the Big Ten.

The only other program to win 800 games in college field hockey history is North Carolina, which has a record of 835-217-19. The Terps are now 800-254-3 all-time.

Hope Rose delivered the game's first goal to start the Terps' scoring in the first quarter. She then added a second goal in the 36th minute off a decisive strike off her back shoulder. She tied Kylee Niswonger for the team lead with four goals on the season. The latter score was also the 41st of her career and she has now scored multiple goals against Indiana twice, doing so previously in 2021. Overall, she has eight multi-goal games in her career.

Josie Hollamon scored her seventh career goal and third of the season for Maryland's second score in the first quarter.

Maryland led Indiana (3-6, 0-3 B1G) in shots (12-8) and shots on goal (9-3).

Goalkeeper Alyssa Klebasko tallied three saves to key her third shutout of the season.

  • DeBerdine took two more penalty corners for Maryland in the second period. The score remained 2-0 going into the half.
  • Klebasko kneed away an Indiana shot attempt at the beginning of the third quarter.
  • Rose delivered a textbook strike in the third quarter, receiving the ball in the circle and only taking two steps before drilling it to the back right corner of the net.
  • Klebasko disrupted Indiana's first penalty corner opportunity by putting her body between the goal and the Hoosier offense.
