Dancing! Terrapins to Travel to UNC For NCAA First and Second Rounds

COLLEGE PARK, Md.  –  The Maryland field hockey team (13-6) earned its 36th overall NCAA Tournament bid Sunday night. The Terrapins are the No. 5 overall seed and will take on No. 6 Duke (12-6) Friday in the NCAA First Round at Karen Shelton Stadium in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Maryland (13-6) will take on Duke (12-6) Friday in Chapel Hill at 1:30 p.m., with the winning teams advancing to the NCAA Quarterfinals Sunday afternoon at 12:00 p.m.

The Terrapins own a record of 69-27 (.718) in the NCAA Tournament and a record of 65-26 (.714) under head coach Missy Meharg.

The Terrapins have advanced to 21 Final Fours and have won eight NCAA titles (1987, 1993, 1999, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2011).

Maryland fell to Michigan, 4-3 in penalty shootouts, in the Big Ten Tournament semifinal game Friday. Graduate student Emma DeBerdine and sophomore Alyssa Klebasko were named to the Big Ten All-Tournament Team.

Four Big Ten teams earned NCAA Tournament bids, including Maryland, Michigan, and Northwestern.
