COLLEGE PARK, MD -- The No. 8-ranked Maryland women's basketball team (10-0, 1-0 B1G) will host William & Mary (3-7) Thursday, Dec. 19 for an 11 a.m. sold out Field Trip Day game at the XFINITY Center. The Terrapins will welcome over 15,000 local school children from over 80 local schools for Field Trip Day. Thursday's game will be streamed on
B1G+.
Fans and staff coming to the XFINITY Center are encouraged to enter campus on Terrapin Trail (directly off Rt. 193 EB) and park in the Terrapin Trail Garage. Fans and staff will be able to enter the arena through Gate E. Parking will not be open in lots 4B and 9B, due to the buses for the school children. Lot UU will be reserved for limited ADA Parking only. Vehicles must have a disabled license plate or placard to enter an ADA accessible parking area. Maryland Athletics and the University of Maryland offered free admission to local school children, teachers and chaperones for Field Trip Day. Maryland Athletics worked with local educators to provide schools with free lesson plans that correspond with Field Trip Day activities for every grade level.

Do Good Institute for this event. The Do Good Institute offers hands-on experiences, funding opportunities, engaging curriculum, and effective programs that prepare Terps with the skills, experiences and resources to Do Good throughout their lives. Click

2024-25 STORYLINES
What's UP
- Maryland is coming off a comeback win, 78-69, at Purdue on Dec. 7. The Terrapins trailed by 16 in the first half and nine at halftime, before storming back to win. Saylor Poffenbarger led the way with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Bri McDaniel scored 16 points, 13 in the second half push, Kaylene Smikle scored 13 and Shyanne Sellers scored 12. Christina Dalce added 11 points and 10 rebounds.
- Maryland is 10-0 for the first time since it went 12-0 to start the 2018-19 season. The Terps' best start in school history was when they started 18-0 in 2006-07. The Terps are one of nine teams in the country that have not lost.
- Maryland women's basketball is in its 54th season and owns a record of 1,135-463 (.710). The Terrapins are No. 11 all-time in NCAA Division I history in winning percentage and No. 9 in all-time victories.
- Maryland was picked to finish fourth in the 18-team Big Ten Conference by both the league's head coaches and media panel. The Terrapins were behind just USC, UCLA and Ohio State and Indiana was picked to finish fifth.
- The Terrapins are ranked No. 8 in the Associated Press poll released Dec. 16 and No. 8 in the USA Today Coaches poll released Dec. 10.
- Two-time National Coach of the Year Brenda Frese brings in 10 new players, including seven transfers, to the squad this season. The Terrapins welcome Big East Co-Defensive Player of the Year Christina Dalce, Atlantic 10 Player of the Year Sarah Te-Biasu, All-Big Ten First Team honoree Kaylene Smikle, All-SEC Freshman Team honoree Saylor Poffenbarger, as well as Mir McLean, Amari DeBerry and Isimenme Ozzy-Momodu.
- Maryland also welcomes three freshmen in Ava McKennie, Kyndal Walker and Breanna Williams. All three won championships in high school.
- The Terrapins return All-Big Ten honorees Shyanne Sellers and Bri McDaniel, as well as Emily Fisher, Emma Chardon and Allie Kubek for the 2024-25 season.
- Sellers was named to the 10-player All-Big Ten Preseason Team for the second straight season. Sellers earned All-Big Ten First Team honors last year after averaging 15.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game.
- Sellers was named to the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Watch List for the nation's top shooting guard. Poffenbarger was named to the Cheryl Miller Award Watch List for the nation's top small forward.

- Head coach Brenda Frese is in her 23rd season in College Park. She's led the Terrapins to a record of 592-161 (.786), 14 conference titles, 20 NCAA Tournament bids in 22 postseasons, three Final Fours, seven Elite Eights, 11 Sweet Sixteens and the 2006 NCAA Championship.
- Frese owns a career record of 649-191 (.773) over her 26 years as a head coach.
- Frese was named National Coach of the Year by the AP, The Athletic and ESPN at the end of the 2020-21 season. In October 2021, Frese was the first woman inducted into the Washington DC Metro Basketball Hall of Fame.
- With the Terrapins' win at Nebraska on Feb. 14, 2021, Frese picked up win No. 500 at Maryland, which makes her the winningest coach in Maryland basketball history. Hall of Fame women's basketball head coach Chris Weller won 499 games in her 27 seasons (1975-02).
