Fans are encouraged to bring a stuffed animal to toss onto the court during halftime for the annual Teddy Bear Toss. All stuffed animals collected will be donated to Toys for Tots. Fans will have the chance to win prizes if they register their stuffed animals at the marketing table and their stuffed animal lands on a target on the floor. 2024-25 STORYLINES
What's UP
- Maryland beat George Mason, 66-56, Saturday and Toledo, 92-70, Sunday in the Navy Classic in Annapolis. Kaylene Smikle averaged 16.5 points to lead the Terps in scoring. Saylor Poffenbarger added 14.5 points and 11.0 rebounds with two double-doubles. Shyanne Sellers also averaged 14.5 points with 6.0 assists.
- Maryland is 8-0 for the first time since it went 12-0 to start the 2018-19 season. The Terps' best start in school history was when they started 18-0 in 2006-07.
- Maryland women's basketball is in its 54th season and owns a record of 1,133-463 (.710). The Terrapins are No. 11 all-time in NCAA Division I history in winning percentage and No. 9 in all-time victories.
- Maryland was picked to finish fourth in the 18-team Big Ten Conference by both the league's head coaches and media panel. The Terrapins were behind just USC, UCLA and Ohio State and Indiana was picked to finish fifth.
- The Terrapins are ranked No. 7 in the Associated Press poll released Dec. 2 and No. 11 in the USA Today Coaches poll released Nov. 26.
- Two-time National Coach of the Year Brenda Frese brings in 10 new players, including seven transfers, to the squad this season. The Terrapins welcome Big East Co-Defensive Player of the Year Christina Dalce, Atlantic 10 Player of the Year Sarah Te-Biasu, All-Big Ten First Team honoree Kaylene Smikle, All-SEC Freshman Team honoree Saylor Poffenbarger, as well as Mir McLean, Amari DeBerry and Isimenme Ozzy-Momodu.
- Maryland also welcomes three freshmen in Ava McKennie, Kyndal Walker and Breanna Williams. All three won championships in high school.
- The Terrapins return All-Big Ten honorees Shyanne Sellers and Bri McDaniel, as well as Emily Fisher, Emma Chardon and Allie Kubek for the 2024-25 season.
- Sellers was named to the 10-player All-Big Ten Preseason Team for the second straight season. Sellers earned All-Big Ten First Team honors last year after averaging 15.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game.
- Sellers was named to the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Watch List for the nation's top shooting guard. Poffenbarger was named to the Cheryl Miller Award Watch List for the nation's top small forward.

- Frese owns a career record of 647-191 (.772) over her 26 years as a head coach.
- Frese was named National Coach of the Year by the AP, The Athletic and ESPN at the end of the 2020-21 season. In October 2021, Frese was the first woman inducted into the Washington DC Metro Basketball Hall of Fame.
- With the Terrapins' win at Nebraska on Feb. 14, 2021, Frese picked up win No. 500 at Maryland, which makes her the winningest coach in Maryland basketball history. Hall of Fame women's basketball head coach Chris Weller won 499 games in her 27 seasons (1975-02).
