Box Score Seattle – Maryland softball was defeated, 8-0, against No. 4 Washington on Thursday at the Jane Sanders Classic. The game was the first of a doubleheader between the two schools.

Maryland (5-10) fell behind early after Washington (13-2) scored seven runs in the second inning. The Terps were unable to bridge the gap.

Jaeda McFarland, Sydney Lewis and Sammi Woods were three Terps to record hits. Lewis hammered a double and McFarland added a stolen base.
Washington's only losses this season have come against No. 1 Oklahoma and No. 7 Oklahoma State.

Breaking Down The Action
  • Jaeda McFarland opened the game with a single and stole second for her fourth stolen base of the year.
  • Washington scored first in the bottom of the second. A runner stole second base and the throw opened the opportunity for a runner on third to steal home. The baserunner slid and avoided the tag to score. The Huskies then loaded the bases with one out and drew a walk to score another run. The Terps got a force out at home, but two singles and a triple scored five combined runs shortly after. Washington climbed a 7-0 lead with its big inning.
  • Washington added another run on the fourth on a sacrifice fly. It led 8-0 leading into the fifth.
