Box Score COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Before a sellout crowd of 17,950 at XFINITY Center, the Terps made a furious comeback in the second half but were outlasted by No. 3 Iowa, 93-85, on Saturday night in a game that aired on FOX Primetime.
After trailing by as many as 18 points early in the third quarter, the Terps sparked a 23-3 run to take a 65-63 lead with 2:46 left in the period. But Iowa scored 10 of the final 11 points of the quarter to lead 73-66 heading to the fourth. Maryland rallied again midway through the fourth quarter to tie the game at 76-76 but Iowa responded outscoring Maryland 17-9 to close the game.
Maryland (12-10, 4-7 B1G) was led by Jakia Brown-Turner who scored a career-high 25 points to go alongside eight rebounds. It was Brown-Turner's fifth game in a row with 20-plus points and she became the first Terp to achieve that since Shatori Walker-Kimbrough scored 20 or more in eight games in a row from Feb. 5 to March 4, 2017.
Bri McDaniel scored 22 points to reach double-figures in seven out of her last eight games and 20-plus points for the fourth time this season.
Shyanne Sellers returned to action to score 14 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds.
Brinae Alexander knocked down four three-pointers for her 12 points.
It was the fourth sellout of a Maryland women's basketball game at XFINITY Center with the last coming on Dec. 29, 2016 against UConn. The previous sellouts came on Jan. 28, 2007 against North Carolina and on Feb. 18, 2007 against Duke.
Iowa (21-2, 10-1 B1G) was led by Caitlin Clark's 38 points on 7-17 three-pointers. She also added 12 assists and six rebounds. It was her sixth straight 30-point game and her 14th overall of the season.
Breaking Down The Action
- After Caitlin Clark opened the game with a three-pointer, the Terps went on an 11-0 run forcing Iowa to call a timeout. The Maryland defense forced three turnovers and went 4-4 on the other end. Four different Terps scored, led by Bri McDaniel's four points.
- Iowa responded with a run of its own and the Hawkeyes led 27-19 at the end of the first quarter. Jakia Brown-Turner scored seven points in the quarter but Clark notched 14 points on four three-pointers to lead all scorers.
- The Hawkeyes made five of their last seven shots from the floor to take a 12-point lead at the 4:08 mark of the second quarter. Maryland later entered the locker room trailing 52-38.
- Maryland sparked a 23-3 run to take a 63-61 lead at the 3:37 mark of the third quarter. The Terps had previously trailed by as many as 18 points early in the same quarter.
- The Terps escaped the third quarter trailing by only six, down 73-66. McDaniel scored a high of 11 points and Brown-Turner added eight to outscore Iowa 28-21 during the quarter.
- The Terrapins went back and forth to open the fourth quarter. Maryland tied the game up at 76-76 after Shyanne Sellers knocked down back-to-back free-throws. Clark responded with a three-pointer to take the lead at the 5:54 mark.
- Maryland went back and forth with Iowa and never trailed by more than two possessions until Clark knocked down a three-pointer to take an 89-80 lead with 40.2 seconds left. The Hawkeyes went on to win comfortably.

"XFINITY is electric. There was times where we would go down, I mean, we were down I think 18 at one point," Shyanne Sellers said regarding the home crowd. "They didn't just give up and walk out, they gave us a lot of energy to fight back. That's huge for us. I love seeing it day in and day out. I know they'll continue to show up for us and we're using that energy in the right way."

- Jakia Brown-Turner hit the double-figures mark for the 14th time this season, her first with the Terps, scoring a career-high 25 points. Overall, she has 81 double-figure scoring games in her career with 67 coming at NC State. Brown-Turner also recorded 20-plus points in five games in a row and 15-plus points for seven straight games.
- Bri McDaniel tallied 22 points for her 13th game this season and 15th of her career in double-figures. She has notched double-figures in seven out of her last eight games. McDaniel also recorded 20-plus points for the fourth time this season.
- Shyanne Sellers (14 points) has scored double-figures in 16 of 21 games she has played this season and 57 in her career.
- Brinae Alexander netted 12 points for her ninth game this season in double-digits. She scored in double-figures for the 64th time in her career.

- With four made three-pointers, Brinae Alexander has made 121 three-pointers in her two years as a Terrapin, which ranks tied with Kim Rodgers for No. 14 in Maryland's program history. She's passed Lexie Brown who made 120 from 2014-15.
