
Inside Lacrosse Names Six Terps As Preseason All-Americans

COLLEGE PARK, MD –Meghan Ball, Shaylan Ahearn, Eloise Clevenger, Libby May, Brianna Lamoureux, and Emily Sterling have been named Preseason All-Americans by Inside Lacroose, as announced on Wednesday.
Ball, the reigning Big Ten Defender of the Year, and Ahearn, the reigning Big Ten Midfielder of the Year, were named to the first team. Clevenger, May, Lamoureux, and Sterling were named Honorable Mentions.
Ball, a graduate transfer from Rutgers arrives in College Park with a stellar resume that includes two USA Lacrosse Magazine All-American selections the past two seasons, including being named to the first team last season, three All-Big Ten selections, and is the Scarlet Knight's all-time leader in caused turnovers (154) and draw controls (308).
Ahearn returns for her fifth season after leading the Big Ten in draw controls with 139, which was also tied for the third-most in program history. She was named the Big Ten Midfielder of the Week five times en route to being named the Midfielder of the Year, as well as a USA Lacrosse Second Team All-American.
Clevenger, a senior attacker, led the Terps in points (73) as well as assists (47). Eight of her 47 assists came against Ohio State in April, which broke the Maryland single-game assist record. She was named to the All-Big Ten First Team and an Honorable Mention All-American by USA Lacrosse after her breakout junior campaign.
May served as the team's leading goal scorer last season with 62. She tallied at least a hat-trick in 11 of 22 games for the Terps, including three six-goal games. Additionally, she was named the IWLCA National Player of the Week and the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, twice.
Sterling, a graduate student, is back in goal for the Terps after winning her second consecutive Big Ten Goaltender of the Year Award. She was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week twice and was sixth in the nation with 186 saves.
Lamoureux, a Rocky Point, New York native, was second on the team with 34 ground balls last season and returns as a veteran fixture in the Maryland defense. She also garnered USA Lacrosse All-American Honorable Mention and Second Team All-Big Ten honors.
The Terps will open up the season on the road against Saint Joseph's this Friday, February 9. Maryland's first home game at the newly renovated Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex will be on February 21 against Drexel.
