ORLANDO, FL - The Maryland track and field team wrapped up the first day of competition at the UCF Black and Gold Invitational, with standout performances from
Morgan Graham and
Mekhi Abbott.

Graham started off the day for the Terps in the women's discus, where she tossed a monstrous 51.87m on her first attempt. This mark puts her at fourth place all-time in school history, and was good for a third place finish in the event.Â

Abbott made his mark in the men's javelin, throwing 57.83m on his second attempt, which puts him into second place all-time in school history. His throw was also good for a top ten finish in the event. Â

Other Highlights
- Kayla Thorpe secured a second place finish in the women's javelin with her throw of 48.26m
- Rhys Allen finished in fifth place in the men's discus with a toss of 50.64m
- Brandon James finished in the top-ten in the men's 200m racing to a 21.36s finish.Â
- Anna Coffin and Katie Turk had top-ten finishes in the women's 1500m, with Coffin taking third and Turk taking seventh. Coffin opened up her outdoor season in a 4:21.60. Turk ran 4:32.95. Emmi Simon set a personal best at 4:37.08.Â
- Freshman Armanie Coleman and Victoria Teasley both went sub-25 seconds in the women's 200m. Coleman clocked 24.42 and Maya Mosley set a personal best of 25.33.Â
- Matt Dehaas and Eric Albright finished in fifth and sixth place in the men's 1500m running 3:50.21 and 3:50.46 respectively. Cliff Carty set a new personal best of 3:59.47.

The Terps will be back in action Saturday in Orlando, with the first event scheduled to start at 10 AM.
