COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Maryland continues its 10-game road swing as they take on Northwestern. This will be the first time that both teams have faced off since the 2022 season. All the games of the weekend series will be streamed on B1G+ and air on the Maryland Baseball Network.

Maryland (22-12, 4-5 B1G) are in the midst of a 10-game road swing across the next two weeks. The Terps come into the weekend after dropping both of their midweek games this week. The first came against Georgetown in an offensive slug-fest in a 13-12 game. After taking a 9-4 lead in the top of the sixth, Georgetown would score five in the bottom half of the sixth to tie the game at nine. Georgetown scored another four runs in the bottom of the seventh to take a 13-9 lead. Sam Hojnar would hit a three run home run in the top of the eighth to make it a one-run game and reach six RBI in a game for the second time in a week. The Terps would not be able to get a run home in the ninth as they came up short on the comeback. The Terps took on UMBC in their second midweek game of the week, in a pitchers duel that ended with the Terps falling by a score of 4-2. The Terps would get on the board first with two in the fourth inning. UMBC answered back in the fifth, bringing home three to take a one-run advantage. Both teams would trade scoreless frames before UMBC would get one more in the eighth to take the 4-2 win.

Northwestern and Maryland have met on 21 occasions in the all-time series, with the Terrapins holding the advantage at 13-8. This will be the first time that the two programs have met since the 2022 season, where the Terps took two of three in the home series over the Wildcats, clinching the series with a 10-5 win back on May 1, 2022.

Northwestern (10-19, 0-6 B1G) come into this weekend after dropping their midweek game at home to Illinois-Chicago by a score of 18-5. Northwestern hosts its second Big Ten series of the season after dropping three games on the road to Penn State last week. On offense, Bennett Markinson leads the team with a .336 batting average and 39 hits on the season. Jackson Freeman leads the team in both home runs and RBI, as the freshman has six home runs and 23 RBI on the season.
